Dr. Elie Sawan
Dr Elie Sawan is a specialist cardiothoracic surgeon with expertise spanning both paediatric and adult cardiac surgery. He is recognised for managing complex congenital heart disease from the neonatal period through to adulthood, providing continuity of care for patients living with lifelong cardiac conditions.
Dr Sawan completed his medical and surgical training across leading Australian tertiary centres, attaining Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS). He further refined his expertise in advanced congenital and adult cardiac surgery, developing particular interest in arterial switch operations, Ross procedures, right ventricular–pulmonary artery conduit reconstruction, complex aortic surgery, and adult congenital reoperations.
His practice encompasses the full spectrum of structural heart disease, including valve repair and replacement, aortic arch reconstruction, coronary surgery, and advanced mechanical circulatory support. Dr Sawan is experienced in both traditional open cardiac surgery and modern valve- preserving strategies, with a strong focus on durable, growth-conscious solutions for younger patients.
